- Artist Statement -

Lucas Pierre-Denis is a contemporary artist and animator currently studying at the Ontario College of Arts and Design (OCAD) to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Animation. He operates from his home studio where he produces demos for video games as well as animated films. Through his fun, experimental and colourful animation videos, Lucas' work explores the playfulness and youthful energy of kids in order to produce cartoon animations directed towards a young audience. Most of his pieces contain a strong emphasis on colour, facial expressions as well as storytelling as a mean to create entertainment. A lot of Lucas' animations are also meant to be comical and are influenced by famous animated series such as The Simpsons (Matt Groening, 1989), Family Guy (Seth MacFarlane, 1999) and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009). Flow and exaggerated movements are quite present in his projects to add to a sense of humour. His work ranges from 2D animation to 3D animation. As part of his education, Lucas followed an intensive, mentored internship (by professional artists) specialized in Portrait and the Human Face Anatomy, in Montreal (Canada). One of his animated works was selected among the best animations at a public gallery event organized in Montreal, Quebec (Canada).
